Rob ‘Macka’ Mackenzie’s first professional gigs as a lead guitarist were with Kevin Barker & The Beagle Boys at the tender age of 17 where he learned all about the rock n roll lifestyle & stage craft.
Later forming his own Rock/Blues covers band Southbound Train in the late 80s supporting Stevie Wright in his hay day & going on to successfully headline most major venues in Sydney at the time.
During the late 90s Macka was in the best of a crop of ZZ Top tribute bands called Eliminator (not to be confused with other shows at the time), a more elaborate show than the rest, complete with costumes, dancing girls, backing sequencers, stage props & fluffy guitars, again doing the rounds of all the major clubs with a very large headline at Tamworth.
Since 2000 Macka has been singing & playing guitar at solo & duo gigs becoming in demand at venues all over Sydney & Gold Coast to Brisbane where he’s noted for his guitar & vocal & mimicry skills of many artists, in particular Jimi Hendrix & Joe Cocker where people are commenting on his uncanny abilities to musically portray these legendry performers.
Today Macka is still busy performing EVERY week at least 2 nights & mostly 3 keeping him in peak performance form & ready for any type of live performance on guitar & vocals.
